Asheville Wordfest Mission

Presents poetry as a form of "citizens" journalism

Uses radio, public access TV and internet to expand poetry audience

Is a part of the Mountain Area Information Network's "Community Voices" Program

Presents poets from an array of cultural and aesthetic contexts

Seeks to engage an audience representative of many communities

Promotes inter-cultural discussion

Promotes a new context for poetry, old and new

Presents poetry as topical, relevant & integral to life
